Icelander Tours is a small travel guide site. This page describes what data the site collects, why, and what your choices are.
What the site collects
Server logs. The web server records the standard things — your IP address, the page you requested, the time, your browser, and the page that referred you. These logs sit on a server in Helsinki and are kept for thirty days for diagnostics and abuse prevention. They’re not used for marketing.
Privacy-friendly analytics. The site uses a self-hosted analytics tool that records page views, referrer, country, browser, and screen size. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect your IP address (only an anonymous daily hash). If you’d rather not be counted, your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting is respected, and any tracking-blocker extension will block it.
Contact form. If you write in via the contact page, the name and reply address you provide are used to reply to you and then deleted within ninety days. Messages are never shared, sold, or used for marketing.
Cookies
The site uses two cookies of its own. One is a WordPress technical cookie set when you submit the contact form (used to prevent form spam, expires in 24 hours). The other is a cache cookie set if you’re a logged-in administrator (you almost certainly aren’t).
Embedded content from other services — photo platforms, video, maps — may set their own cookies when those embeds load. The site doesn’t currently embed third-party trackers, ads, or social widgets that would set cookies.
Affiliate links
Some links on the site go to booking platforms (Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Viator, Klook). When you click one and book, the site earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. The booking platform handles your data under its own privacy policy. The site doesn’t see your booking, payment details, or trip dates — only that someone followed a link.
Your rights
If you’re in the EU/EEA, GDPR gives you the right to ask what data the site holds on you, to request a copy, and to ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact form to make any of those requests and you’ll get a response within thirty days.
The site does not knowingly collect data from children under sixteen.
Changes to this policy
If anything substantive changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated. For minor edits (typos, link tidy-ups), no notice is given.
