Hey "Uncle" Oli,
How is everything going for you back in Iceland? Things are okay here, but I really miss Iceland and you. I have been very busy, though, getting pictures developed, cleaning, and getting ready to go to New Hampshire.
I talked to my parents about the trip and the were very excited and even talked about seeing Iceland for themselves sometime. I still am very interested in working out a way that Stacy and I (and Ashley, too) could come back next summer and work in Iceland. I even got my parents to agree to it. Well, I can't stop talking about Iceland to my family and friends, and I had the best time of my life there. I will always remember our groups last night in Iceland. The sites, the horseback riding, the wonderful fresh fish dinner, the songs and drinks in the stables with the staff, the puppies, the cards, and hanging out later that night. It was just really relaxing and one of my favorite nights. So, thanks for guiding us, teaching us, and for caring about us. Thanks again, and Ill write you again, soon!

From a UK family travelling
with us this summer:
Just to let you know that we returned safe and sound. Today we surveyed
the battered garden after the high winds and storms whilst we were
away. The good weather must be following us around since it was
hot today.
We all enjoyed the tour of your beautiful country and can’t
believe how much we saw in such a short time. We have been drooling
over the photos which are now safely on the computer. Tony and I
certainly plan to come back at some stage and we won’t hesitate
to recommend it to the more adventurous of our friends! It was also
very special to meet your daughters who are delightful. All the best,
The Whites
A couple from this summer:
Dear Oli,
We are safely back home and want to thank you so much for all you
did to give us such a memorable holiday. It was absolutely wonderful,
and you worked so hard for us! We loved your country and found it
all so interesting - such a completely different landscape from ours
with all the craters, pumice and lava landscapes, blue water in the
rivers, hot springs, geysers, waterfalls etc. etc. It was so interesting
to be with someone who was so well informed and able to answer all
our endless questions. We loved the bird life too - red-necked phalaropes
and sea-eagles, little auks and Brunnich guillemots - what a treat,
not forgetting the puffins and all the others. Mike and Hugh were
pleased we managed to fit in the fishing too. We thoroughly enjoyed
all the accommodation stops - all nice and relaxed and friendly.
The only problem came when we had 24 hours in Reykavik - it was hard
to adjust after being out in the wild for a week. Mike wants to add
his bit on the bottom, but thank you so much again. We loved all
the endless surprises - visits to a horse-farm, dairy, rose and tomato
growers, your mother-in-law, driving to the top of craters unexpectedly,
visiting the church where you were married, seeing that picture by
the shark farm, etc etc. and being fed by the director of the Icelandic
Opera House! We do hope that we may be able to see the North and
East of Iceland sometime in the not too distant future with you.
You have certainly whetted our appetites for more. Let us know if
you are coming to England and have time to spare to come and see
us.
With many thanks again and love from us both, Mike and Celia
P.S. Mike is working on the photos and will send you the two discs
when he has finished them.
From a girl from New York who came on tour this summer:
I just wanted to tell you once again that I had the most incredible
time on
your tour. It was truly a life changing experience that I will take
with me
always. I have some amazing pictures that I would love to send to
you as
well as the others, that is, once i figure out how to do that! I
hope you
and your family are well. We must keep in touch! Write back with
your home
address so that I can send you a CD of some of these pictures. Thanks
again
and take care!!

From a couple who were with us in June 2004
Hai Oli, Thank you so much for giving us all such a good time in
Iceland. A great country, a great people. Our photos will be ready
tomorrow and they will help to bring it all back.
It would not have been anything like such a good tour without you
and we did appreciate meeting people whom we would not have met without
you. Kindest regards to your family and remember that we would be
very pleased to see you here whenever you are in England.

From a couple touring summer 2004
Again, a huge thanks to Oli who did a phenomenal job of showing us
the wonders of Iceland. This tour was exactly what Steve and I
had hoped for, and Oli´s knowledge of the area, the history,
the people, and the geology only enhanced our experience. Thanks
to Johanna as well, for going shopping with us on Tuesday! Take
care everyone, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

From the Mother out of group of four, they did a 5 day tour from
the 25th of August 2004
Dear Oli
What can I say after such a holiday, we came to Iceland ignorant
of your country and have left with an incredible insight and much
knowledge, thanks to a superb guide. You interpreted so well our
expectations.I have travelled, not extensively, but to a number
of countries and I can honestly say that I have never returned
home with such
a feeling of fulfilment (and sadness having to leave so soon). Whilst
I personally was totally captivated by our visit to Ingolfshofoi,
it seems unfair to compare this with all ofthe other amazing sights
and experiences during the four days. I am sure these memories will
remain amongst my most special in years to come. I sincerely hope
that I am fortunate enough to return again to your country and rest
assured you will be the first person I will contact. With regard to
my younger daughter Louise, is it really possible that you may
have contacts within the field of Physcology, and if
so is it possible that we could maybe forward my daughters CV. She
is extremely consciencous, hardworking and keen to break into this
field having now completed her degree (she gained a 2:1). Any help
in progressing her career opportunities would be very much appreciated.Writing
this it feels that you have given so much, if ever I can be of
any assistance to you, then I will do my best to help.Once again
my sincere thanks for a truly wonderful time and hopefully we will
meet again one day soon.Kind Regards , Linda From a couple with us recently:
Hello Highlander!
Just a quick note to thank you for a wonderful day out when we
visited Iceland a couple of weeks ago. We took a day trip to Porsmork
and Myrdalsjokull in a super jeep driven by Helgi. He was excellent
company, a knowledgeable guide and a fantastic driver! Helgi was
able to take us to places no bus or rental car could go and give
us a real sight of the unbelievable South Iceland landscape. I
will never forget the glaciers, waterfalls, black sands, geothermal
pools....... oh and cleaning the jeep by
driving down the middle of a river!
I cannot recommend you highly enough - if anyone is reading this
on your website: BOOK NOW! Please pass on our best regards to Helgi
and ask him if he has had anymore picnics in the snow lately!
Cheers,
Elliott & Amanda, UK.
Two families from London visited Iceland between Christmas 2003
and the New Year:
Dear Óli
First of all, a very Happy New Year to you and your family!
On behalf of the Scarletts and the Stevensons we wish to thank you
for making our stay in your beautiful country so enjoyable. Each
of us has tried to pick one special moment but it is difficult
when we saw and did so many amazing things - our favourites are
seeing and touching the mouth of the
glacier; the amazing waterfall at Gullfoss; the skidoos on top of
the glacier; the geysirs; the horse (not pony!) riding; swimming
in the blue lagoon; walking along the fault line at Pingvellir; the
northern lights; the folk museum which gave us such an insight into
the way people lived until recent times....even after a few days,
so many things. What made it particularly special was your own professionalism,
knowledge, enthusiasm and humour. You tailored everything to suit
us and nothing was too much trouble for you. We could not have enjoyed
our stay more and, if you'll have us, we will definitely contact
you as our tour guide when we return to Icland and its magical landscape!!
Children and adults found the whole experience stunning, exciting
and educational.
Hopefully speak to you again soon.
A million thanks,
David, Sue, Daniel, Hannah, Andy, Jane, Adam and Victoria.

Hello Oli,

lives. Bill and I had such a fabulous time in Iceland. I was truly
saddened to return
home. Back here in reality I can only dream of the day we get to
return to your lovely country! You truly went out of your way to make
our trip spectacular. Elizabeth and Murray's wedding was an added
treat. I think Bill and I enjoyed
it more then they did!It was also a pleasure to meet your family.
I really enjoyed playing peek a boo with Unnur! Thanks again for such
a fabulous trip! Best regards to you and your family!!Foundly, Barbra

A family from Belgium middle of July 2004
After an other 4 weeks of holidays for the children,
and a quick busy start at work, we send you our impression of our
Iceland-safari
in july 2004.Our three children are even six weeks later very enthousiastic
about this trip. They are telling all their friends how COOL Iceland
is!!!!They tell them about the horse riding, the icescooters on the
glacier, the floating icebergs, the ' lundies' and your 4x4 jeep. The
lundi or puffin became the favorite animal of Benedicte (11y), Cedric
(10y) knows now why dad doensn't need a 4x4 in Belgium, and
Carmen (12)shows around with the pictures. We, the parents are very
gratefull to you for such a safe journey. Everything was wel organised
and enjoyable. This was already 5 years
a dream-destination ( after 2 world expos ) for us and it became
a true dream-holiday. Not the sunny beach and palm-holiday, but a
well organised, though relaxed, very impressive experience around
this beautifull country.Your enormous experience with difficult 'tracks'
in the center of this land, your popularity with nearly all local
Icelandic people,
and your organisation talent, makes you probably the best guide in
Iceland!!!!!!We recommended your organisation already to some friends. We
hope you wil enjoy the our video we did send you (,after all the
patience you showed while I was filming.) Thanks again , a very gratefull
Belgian family26.-30. August 2004Oli, Thought I would send you an
e-mail to again say thanks for last week's tour. The success of the
tour is the result of the
depth of your knowledge of Iceland and your willingness to share
it with others.Best of luck and health, Takk, Ken DiGiuseppe

Dear Oli,
A very big Thank you for a really enjoyable holiday. I could not
have asked for a better guide and driver. It was so good to be in
the company of 10 other friendly folk, and it all went to make for
a great 9 days. Thank you also for choosing such good guesthouses
for me to stay in. I have already been asked for your address by
a friend of mine.Everything was fine when I returned home - we are
even having some hot weather. Many thanks once again, and maybe see
you again one day!

Hi Óli,
I really really enjoyed touring around Iceland
in the mini-mini-bus, with you telling us about the amazing sights,
and thankyou for being
so kind, helpful and funny. Thankyou also for the new nickname and
I'm so grateful for the beautiful necklace and ear-rings you kindly
gave me from Petru's stone collection. Hopefully I will be able to
ask you to get me a dog soon, but I'm not sure how soon that will
be! I hope Unnar Egla enjoyed her first day at nursery.Takk, and
bless! ..........Love from Rusty! How old do you have to be to hire
a 4X4 in Iceland?! James and I and our friend Robert would like to
come in a few years when
we have driving licences and have saved up enough to come!!Our neighbours
have said we can put an Icelandic horse in their field...(!) I wonder
what it would think of two donkeys!!We've had a really good time.
Thankyou for taking us to so many places and especially the hot pools
in the crevasses. I really enjoyed
everything!I am going to make a scrap book with all my photos in
and tickets and things from all the places where we went.
Takk, Bless bless!! @idan
Thank you for a really excellent trip - it
exceeded expectations! It was great to see so much of the country,
especially as I have
wanted to visit Iceland since I was about 5. The variety of landscape,
geology, etc is so great; coming back to England seems very strange.
We got home safely with no delays, but the journey involved 2 hours
of driiving on 3 and 4 lane motorway - a big contrast to Kjölur,
and you can guess where we would rather be! We have already been
to get some of the films developed on a 1 hour process, and as Aidan
says, he and Rusty are making books about everything they have seen.
Thank you for arranging things to suit all of our interests. I found
the museums and old buildings fascinating - especially Lillia's farm!
I might even go whale watching again, though I would prefer a calmer
day .... We were all very impressed with the Icelandic horses too
- much more comfortable than English ones!I hope you got back to
Fludir OK. Thank you very much for taking us to the airport. We hope
to return to Iceland again
before too
long. If you and Johanna and the girls are ever able to visit England,
you will be very welcome to stay with us and we will take you to
see our scenery and historySo, many thanks again, and best wishes
to you and Johanna and the girls,
Nicola

Hi Óli!
Thank you for making ours a great trip and for giving us a great
picture of what Iceland is about. As Anja said you really gave our
trip something special with your stories and sagas. This was definately
not the last time I'm going to Iceland. Hope the rest of the summer
will be great for you and hopefully you'll get better weather than
we did.
Best regards from Bjørn.

It's true, I did spend an hour on the phone with Bob (representing
IcelandST@aol.com, the tour office where Mary Jo bought her ticket)
and told him all about the trip and everything we did and how you
showed such sensitivity and grace -- I wanted to make sure that he
knows you're the best. I think he was really interested and impressed
by the huge variety and quality of all the things we did. I also
wanted him to know about the "little" extras, . . .the
things that separate you from other tour operators. Like when after
the tour was over, you secretly called the restaurant and had the
waiter bring us all little glasses of Brennevin from "the ghost
of Oli." It is touches like that that make a trip so memorable
and fill one's heart with good feelings. A famous architect once
said, "God is in the details." And this is something that
YOU know better than anybody, Oli. [and you have my permission to

Ó li Thank you, sir! We arrived at 00.30 hrs, and I rose for work at
04.00 hrs, so my eyes are very heavy now. We had just a terrific
time - me most especially. I think I will never take my mind completely
from your land - at least I hope not...
You organized the perfect trip.
Everyone was so very pleased. And, we came to appreciate more of
what you shared of the history as we toured Reykjavik and it's museums
- you know a great deal, my friend.
